Since August 2024, if you have a biometric residence permit (BRP) that expires on 31 December 2024, you should now create a United Kingdom Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account and access your new ‘eVisa’.
It is very important to get your eVisa before your BRP expires. If you do not, you may face problems when leaving or entering the UK.
You can use your passport or travel document to create the account. If you have lost your BRP card, you can use a visa application reference number to create the account.
At this stage, you should only request a replacement BRP if it has been lost or stolen and you have no other form of identity document to create a UKVI account.
Your visa application number is the global web form (GWF) or unique application number (UAN) from your visa application. You must give a phone number and email address you can use again. You’ll need them each time you use your eVisa to prove your immigration status online.
If you cannot see your eVisa details as soon as you create your UKVI account, you do not need to do anything. UKVI will contact you directly by email once your eVisa is available to view. You can use your BRP to prove your immigration status until your eVisa details are available. You can then travel without your residence card.
To apply, please go to www.gov.uk/evisa. There is help available if you run into problems, which you can find on the eVisa pages.
For those who struggle with digital systems, you can get help here: visa@we-are-digital.co.uk. Alternatively, text ‘VISA’ and a number to call you on to 07537 416 944, or telephone 03333 445 675 between 9am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
